New Routines

Alarm Clock

New year, new routines?  Or am I still trying to find one which works well for me.

Having been on the road much of the end of 2019, waking up to a home which wasn’t mine, I found it hard to be grounded in routine.  What exactly should I be doing and when?  What was the number one thing I should get done today?

With the lack of routine and no looming deadlines, I found it hard to be as productive as I would like.  Or near as productive as I was when I was working full-time.  Which makes no sense to me. Continue reading “New Routines”

New Year – New Decade

New Year New Decade Planning

It’s a new year and a new decade.  The social feeds are full of pictures of friends, family and celebrities looking back 10 years.  What their lives were like 10 years ago.  Everyone is looking back to look forward, so I thought I would do the same.

My life was completely different 10 years ago.  I was a stay at home mom helping my husband launch his company.  My children were aged 14, 13, 11 and 7.  The pre-high school years – I may have blocked out some of this! Continue reading “New Year – New Decade”

Monday Morning Chaos

Room during mid painting

Creation sure looks a lot like destruction.

I’m not sure if it is because I am more focused on creating this year or because this time of year I just want to hibernate.  But I have been restless and feeling the urge to nest.

Nesting isn’t something which I have felt this strongly since I had my last child.  Seventeen years ago! But I have a strong sense of needing to organize, clean and redo spaces in my home. Continue reading “Monday Morning Chaos”

My Three Words – My Guide for 2020

Morning Coffee and planning my words

I learned about choosing three words to guide my year a few years ago from Chris Brogan.  Chris has an annual process where he chooses three words to anchor his year.  These three words are meant to drive your year forward.  They are the beacon on which you decide yes I will do something or no I will not do it this year.

The first two words I can up with pretty quickly.  I knew with my year and working to get a new business up and running that these two words would help me choose what I needed to do each day. Continue reading “My Three Words – My Guide for 2020”

Focus

Note to Self

Today is my first day as a full-time entrepreneur.  Last week, I left behind my full-time job to work on my business full-time.

Wow, that’s a lot of full-time!

Anyway, I am now have no excuses not to move forward with my business.  I now have back the 40 hours I worked and the 10-15 hours I spent commuting to work.  I have all the time in the world to make this work. Continue reading “Focus”

Chapter Closed

Logo Chapter

I know, don’t look back. But I had to take one last look as I close out a chapter in my life.

You see today was my last day at the Chamber.

It is hard to believe that six years have passed since I first walked in the door. I have worked with amazing people doing amazing work. The people here are hard working and driven to see our region succeed. It is hard to walk out the door and know I will not work with them again. 😢

A big thank you to my Chamber family for making the last six years such a great experience. I have learned so much from working with each of you. You will be missed, but never forgotten. Continue reading “Chapter Closed”

Voice

I seem to have lost my voice.  Not my real voice, my family can attest to the fact I can indeed speak, but I just haven’t had anything to say.

I am not certain what happened.  I think it happened when I took a solo trip out to California in February!  I know!  Four whole months have gone by and I just haven’t had anything to say! Continue reading “Voice”

Showing Up

running shoes

There is something about the winter months in Michigan, which just make me want to hibernate.  I’m not sure if it is the after holiday blues, the short days, the gray skies, the painfully cold weather, the fact my sister died in January, but I just seem to stop showing up in my life.

It kind of seems strange you could not show up in your own life.  I mean, you wake up as yourself, how do you not live your life. Continue reading “Showing Up”

Inspiration

My Inspiration

In an Instagram, social media filled world, it isn’t hard to see the life you want to live displayed on someone else’s feed.  But what does it really mean to be living an inspiring life? Does it really fill you with inspiration?

Does looking through your friend’s feeds inspire you?  Does it make you filled with joy watching them grow and have amazing experiences?  Or does it in some way diminish your life?
