Focus

Today is my first day as a full-time entrepreneur.  Last week, I left behind my full-time job to work on my business full-time.

Wow, that’s a lot of full-time!

Anyway, I am now have no excuses not to move forward with my business.  I now have back the 40 hours I worked and the 10-15 hours I spent commuting to work.  I have all the time in the world to make this work.

Now, I just need to focus!

I have never had the whole day to work on my business.  It was always done in the early hours of the morning.  You know, the hours where I would be working at my desk and my twenty-something year-olds would come in from the night before!  Early!

I would fit in time after work.  When I was tired and eating dinner.  I would use weekends to work.

Now, I have the whole day to work!  And what did I do?  I woke up at 3:00 am to start my day.

I’m kind of worried I will allow my day to get away from me.  That I will get distracted by family, laundry, making dinner and not get enough done.  That I will still be trying to sneak in the hours during the day.

So, my plan is to have focused time during the day to work.

I’m hoping that doesn’t mean 3:00 am.  I am scheduling out my most important tasks for when I have the most energy, which generally is first thing in the morning.  Before my house gets crazy with my family getting up and going to work or school.

I then plan on taking an hour off while they are up.  Time to move the laundry along and then go out for a run.  I know if I don’t exercise first thing in the morning, it just won’t happen.  Hoping if I put in time for the stuff surrounding me, it won’t distract me while I am working.

Then come back and work until lunchtime.  When it appears my husband comes home for lunch.  I never knew this was a thing!  I guess nine years of working so far away from home, means I just didn’t know the routines of my family and what was happening in the house!

Lunch time off will also give me a real time to get up from my desk.  I plan to use my lunch break to take a walk or run errands and then back to work to do the tasks which need to be completed for the day.

I am hoping if I give myself three large chunks of time to dig into my work, I will find that I am moving forward at a pace which will work for me.  I need to get things moving!!!!

So, off to run and then start back on my second focused work time.

I have no idea if this will work, but it is the plan for now.  Wish me luck!
