Up Early again on the ship and we are pulling into our second port of the cruise. Yesterday we were in Aruba. Let me just say, there is nothing negative I can say about Aruba. It is just as beautiful as you imagine it would be. The water is incredibly blue and the beaches are pure white.
I am pretty sure I can see a coming back to spend a whole week on those beaches. May be some of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. And I heard there are more incredible beaches on the other side of the island. There just wasn’t enough time to explore the whole island.
The smiles on my kids faces as they saw the shores of Aruba will be ingrained in my mind forever. Continue reading “The Cruise Continues”
Sitting in the cafe of the cruise ship, an older women, all smiles walked by. When she passed I noticed the back of her shirt said, “Living my best life”.
I started to think about the phrase as I sat staring at the sign rise over the water. Am I doing this?
At this very moment, I couldn’t think of a better place to be. I am floating across the Caribbean sea on the way to Aruba. Honestly, life is pretty good right this moment. And in the spirit of living in the moment, yes I am living my best life. Continue reading “Living My Best Life”
As we were driving to the airport my son asked if I was in vacation mode yet. My husband answered that I would not be in vacation mode until after I made it through security at the airport, always a stress point for me.
I replied my brain went on vacation mode several days before. You know the feeling when you are at work and you start to daydream about sunny days at a beach. I would like to think I was productive my last few days at work, but I probably wasn’t.
Twenty-five years is a long time!
I can’t believe it has been 25 years since I married my college sweetheart. I can say it doesn’t seem like it was yesterday that we got married, but I can say the years have flown by.
What I am grateful for
I have been incredibly blessed in my life. I want to take a moment to say thanks for all I have been given.
The people in my life: Continue reading “Gratitude”
I love traveling.
I think it is because traveling gives us permission to explore. It gives us permission to ask questions. How often do we get to live in child-like wonder of the world? Where you can ask questions to strangers? The fun of travel is that we all live in the world of curiosity.
I recently learned a really important lesson about apologizing.
I attended a meeting where a leader brought up an opportunity for the staff to attend a training. Unfortunately it was described in a way which came across as demeaning. The more the leader spoke about the “opportunity,” the worse it became.
I have decided experiment with living without excuses. This means that I either do something or I fully decide to not do something. This isn’t like the beginning of the year where we set our new year’s resolutions and then get to the end of January and have completely disregarded them.
This is just deciding to have the self-discipline to see something through to the end. To decide that these goals are deeply important to me and worth my time, or they really aren’t important and I am just not going to think about them anymore.
Two little words, which mean so much, thank you.
Merriam Webster defines thank you as “a polite expression of one’s gratitude”.
Sometimes in our busy lives, we forget to reach out and thank those who have made our lives more fun, easier, better. It isn’t that we don’t appreciate them, we just forget to say it.
I had a recent experience where I was both the receiver of thanks and I in-turn thanked people. It brought to light, how very important it is to say these words.
